Aluminium 2014 Flat Bars consist mainly of aluminium (90.7–93.5%) with copper (3.9–5%), manganese (0.4–1.2%), magnesium (0.2–0.8%), and other trace elements. The bars have superior strength and hardness, particularly after heat treatment. Its mechanical properties are tensile strength of 450 MPa, yield strength of 390 MPa, and elongation of about 10%. Aluminium 2014 has good fatigue resistance, moderate corrosion resistance, but good machinability, and hence it can be used in heavy duty structural work. The alloy is a heat-treatable wrought aluminium alloy employed for high-performance engineering applications.
