Aluminium 2017 Channel consists mainly of aluminium (Al) with copper (Cu) as its principal alloying component and trace amounts of manganese (Mn), magnesium (Mg), and iron (Fe). It usually has a content of approximately 3.5–4.5% copper, increasing its tensile strength and heat treatability. The alloy has high tensile strength (430–470 MPa), good yield strength (240–290 MPa), and high fatigue resistance. It has fair corrosion resistance and is acceptable for uses involving moderate formability and strong mechanical properties. Aluminium 2017 is usually applied in the T4 or T6 temper condition for enhanced hardness and strength.
